well, xorgsetup, at least on SW 10 doesn't seem to do anything except let you set the color depth........ and it didnt' work

so I went back to framebuffer xorg.conf file, and changed vga=794 which gives me a 1280 x 1024 screen @ 65k colors (?) 16 bit and I don't like the way it looks.......everythings too small :(

I'm sure 800 x 600 and everything would be too 'big'

I guess 1024 x 768 is about right on this widescreen.......

I'd like to be able to change resolution on the fly.....

I mean, SW 12 can do it on the old P500 machine.......

.....and I had
a lot of problems configuring it some time ago. But then X.org 6.9.0 was
released... And I have just been using the default via-driver since
then. So my advise is to install a backported version of X.org 6.9.0,
</snip>

but.......no worries, as I'm very happy that the framebuffer gives me my 1024 x 768.......

besides, 120 gig hd should be here maybe tommorow and the SW 12 installation soon to follow :)

  Yep, I have a website there still.  I also got a notice of pending
de-activation, but I got past that. I now have it linked to one of my
domains, so it should be getting enough traffic to maintain itself.

Eric LOL at the timing of the VIA announcement <g>

In particular, VIA is mentioning current development involving support for multiple monitors and screen resolution changes.
